Kia ora koutou,
Wherever you live in New Zealand, you are invited to join in the following collective response to climate change organised by the Wellington Diocese.
The Low Carbon Challenge: three months of prayerful action to shrink our carbon footprints together.
This runs from is August to November. Gather a team of two or more people from your household, church or workplace and register now. People of all ages and stages are welcome.
The challenge is about action: all teams will get support to choose one goal for reducing carbon pollution that suits them and their context. That's something even busy people can do!
The challenge also about prayer: teams will also commit to praying for our climate. In November, world leaders will meet for important climate talks. In the lead-up, we'll pray for God's kingdom to come in those meetings and our own lives.
This challenge is for everybody. Invite freely! Involve kids! Invite friends who are not part of a church! We will be using Christian language, and talking about prayer, and inspiring each other to love God's earth and our neighbours better. Anyone who wants to be part of this is welcome.
